The US World War I Centennial Commission, created by Congress in 2013, is the lead organiser for America’s World War One commemorations.
Its mission is ‘to raise awareness of and give meaning to the events of a hundred years ago, using educational experiences and programming for all ages.’
The Commission is responsible for establishing a National World War I Memorial in Washington DC, honouring more than four million Americans who served in the First World War.
It’s also working in partnership with the governments of several countries to develop public awareness programmes and commemorative events.
