The Times of India reports that the UK Foreign Office has called for help in identifying the families of Indian soldiers who fought for Britain during the First World War, in an interview with the British Faith and Communities Minister, Baroness Warsi.
The Times of India states that the descendants of these soldiers may be brought to London as part of commemorations to mark the Centenary of the First World War.
Baroness Warsi stated: “Indians and Pakistanis have a long history of commitment towards Britain and thousands gave up their lives fighting for us. It is because of their sacrifices that this country enjoys the freedom today. We therefore don’t want those brave Indian soldiers to be forgotten”.
