Broadcast Now has highlighted that the Centenary of World War One, which lasts from 28th July 2014 to November 11th 2018, will be commemorated on the four BBC channels by a special season of programmes commissioned across science, history and drama genres. A BBC spokeswoman said: “The BBC is marking this important anniversary with a range of ambitious programming, but it is too early to discuss any details.”

Channel 4 is specifically focusing on producing documentaries and dramas on life in the trenches with the channel’s History Commissioner, Julia Harrington, said to be “looking for a range of ideas” and “talking to people about potential programmes.”
