The ‘White War’ Museum in Italy focuses on the 1915-1918 campaign by Italian soldiers fought against the Austro-Hungarian army.
The museum in Adamello, situated in the Trentino region in Northern Italy, is dedicated to the promotion of the area’s WW1 heritage and contains artefacts and documents relating the history of the ‘White War’ (so-named because of the limestone mountains that formed the backdrop to the campaign). The Museum offers an insight into a much-neglected area of Great War history in which 1.5 million Italian soldiers died.
There are trenches, bunkers, fortresses and remnants of military camps around the region which spans the Austro-Italian border and peaks of the Adamello-Brenta mountain range.
