There were two main events during the afternoon of Friday April 24th 2015 – one at the principal Turkish memorial at Canakkale and one at the CWGC Cape Helles Memorial.
The ceremony at the Turkish memorial at Canakkale was attended by leaders from the countries that took part in the Gallipoli fighting – Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, Britain, Ireland and France.
Britain’s Prince of Wales and Ireland’s President Michael D. Higgins then went on to speak at the Commonwealth and Ireland commemorations at the Cape Helles Memorial.
