Portuguese Universidade Nova de Lisboa to host ‘Africa and the First World War’ conference

The Portuguese Instituto de História Contemporânea, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, is to host a conference exploring the role Africa played in the First World War and how this influenced its standing in imperial and global politics.

The conference will be the first meeting of the recently established International Network for the Study of the Great War in Africa and includes papers delivered by invited speakers and presentations submitted through a call for papers.

The conference will take place on 11th-12th July 2013.
