New First World War Novel ‘Harvard 1914’ to be subject of talk by author at Harvard University

A novel centred around the First World War, ‘Harvard 1914’, will be the subject of talks at Harvard University and in London in April and May 2013.

The novel is set in Boston and Flanders. The author, Allegra Jordan, describes the book as “a fictionalised account of the building of the university’s Memorial church which also serves as a public memorial for Harvard’s 20th century war dead. Controversy erupted during its construction over the matter of four Harvard students who had died fighting for the Kaiser. The book describes how the community wrestled with its divided loyalties”.

The author will be discussing the book at Harvard University, on the 7th April 2013.

A talk will also be held in London on 10th May 2013, with the location to be confirmed.
