Kansas City Great War Conference looks at Centennial planning around the world

The Great War conference in Kansas City has taken place, with delegates from around the world sharing information and plans about the upcoming Centenary and Centennial of World War 1.

The conference, called ‘A Century in the Shadow of the Great War’, heard from speakers from Belgium, France, Germany, Britain, Australia, Canada and the United States.

As well as planning sessions, there were also more general First World War presentations from Dr Annette Becker (“How to Commemorate a 100-year-old Tragedy”), Dr Sophie De Schaepdrijver (Military Occupations 1914-18), Dr Michael Neiberg (the outbreak of the war), and Dr Vejas Liulevicius (the Eastern Front).

The conference was held at the United States National World War 1 Museum in Kansas City.

A more detailed conference report will be uploaded to Centenary News in the coming week.

The event was filmed by the Museum, and they have agreed to allow Centenary News to stream the videos as they are edited over the coming month.
