Heritage Lottery Fund Supports Centenary

The Heritage Lottery Fund has given the green light for funding to support the IWM’s Centenary Galleries.

The Imperial War Museum’s Centenary Programme has already been backed by HLF funding but this “initial support” for the Museum’s plans for extensive work on its WW1 Galleries means that the IWM can possibly secure a full HLF grant and carry out 4.5 million worth of work to transform its galleries for the 2014 Centenary.

It estimates that 35 million of work is needed to complete its project to expand its First World War Galleries and improve its visitor facilities in time for the Centenary. In addition to the HLF’s Support it has already raised 13 million.

2024 Update: See here the HLF website looking back at the projects it funded between 2014 and 2018. https://www.heritagefund.org.uk/our-work/first-world-war-centenary
