The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, England, has been awarded £493,300 in Heritage Lottery funding, in part for initiatives to help mark the Centenary of the First World War.
The grant will help to “revamp the museum’s current displays and improve their learning and community outreach programmes”.
To mark the Centenary of the First World War “new learning events and activities” will be developed and include “personal soldier stories which will be brought to life through interactive multi-media tools”.
‘The Memorial Project’ will also be launched with money from the grant which will “create a database of names on War Memorials across the country thus establishing a valuable resource in time for the 2014 commemorations”.
