From the Garden to the Trenches, the second of three international Approaching War conferences will explore the impact of WW1 on childhood and culture from three different geographical perspectives. The first conference in Sydney Australia (December 2011), centred on the Global South, and the third, in Newcastle UK (March 2013) will focus on Europe. The conference will take place in three parts, from May 10-12, 2012, in Niagara and Toronto.
People interested in history, literature, theatre, and social and cultural studies, will have an opportunity to engage with internationally recognised authors and scholars. One of the keynote speakers is Michael Morpurgo, author of War Horse.
