Five unknown First World War soldiers to be buried in services in France this week

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has announced that the remains of five unknown First World War soldiers, and a rededication service for another, will take place in August 2013.

The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has scheduled the burials, which members of the public are welcome to attend.

20th August

12:00 – Burial of one unknown soldier of the Queens (Royal West Surrey Regiment) at Vendresse British Cemetery, France.

14.00 – Rededication service for Sergeant Maidment 2/4 Battalion Hampshire Regiment at Marfaux British Cemetery, France.

21st August

10:00 – Burial of one unknown soldier at Fifteen Ravine British Cemetery, Villers-Plouich, France.

13:00 – Burial of one unknown soldier at Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz, France.

22nd August

10:00 – Burial of one unknown soldier of the Argyll and Sutherland Regiment and one unknown soldier at Woburn Abbey Cemetery, Cuinchy, France.
