“Feeding the Enemy: The Hidden History of the ‘Commission for the Relief of Belgium’/CRB”

The ‘Beyond the 1914-1918 Centenary’ initiative within the Goetheanum Section for Social Sciences is organising a series of lectures in Brussels to mark the Centenary of the First World War. The next lecture in this series, “Feeding the Enemy – The Hidden History of the ‘Commission for the Relief of Belgium’/CRB,” will be presented by author, Mr. Gerry Docherty, who will explore several themes surrounding the topic of the CRB, including:

-‘Hidden history’ of the World War and the ‘Belgian Relief’
– Zooming in on the evil behind the CRB ‘fable convenue’
– Allied ‘feeding the enemy’ and Herbert Hoover the ‘humanitarian’
– The Francqui-Hoover connection: the money trail from China to Congo
– Edith Cavell and the staggering CRB charity: relief myths under strain
– Silencing Hoover/CRB critics and the effective removal of evidences
– Financial and political rewards of the Great War prolongation
