European Broadcasting Union develops “unique pool” of television and radio material relating to the First World War

The European Broadcasting Union is developing a “unique pool” of television and radio footage relating to the First World War.

Eurovision and Euroradio will be at the forefront of creating the archive.

The project recognises the prominence of images and audio which already exist from the period, but that “testimonies collected from the early days of broadcasting represent a unique contribution by public service media (PSM) to enhance broader commemorations”.

Participating broadcasters include:

British Broadcasting Company (United Kingdom), Czech TV (Czech republic), MKRTV (Macedonia), MKTV (Hungary), RAI (Italy).
