Worcestershire Centenary Committee fear the Olympics and the Queen’s Jubilee have taken attention away from the anniversary in 2014, the BBC reports. The committee is urging people to look at their local war memorial to see if it needs restoring, and to come up with ideas for raising the funds to do any necessary work.
In the report, Mayor of Worcester, David Tibbutt, says: “We must never forget this terrible sequence of events, and I am very keen that our commemorations will particularly engage with young people in the city.”
