British newspapers report claims that the British government is avoiding a tone of celebration in the Centenary.
The Sunday Times carries the report under the headline: “Don’t mention that we won the First World War”.
The British Daily Mail’s article had the headline: “Don’t mention (that we won) the war: Government ‘doesn’t want to upset Germans during First World War centenary events’”.
