Two Cities Contest The Home of The USA’s Great War Memorial

Date of publication: 05/03/2012

As the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Great War approaches in 2014, a tussle has broken out between Kansas City and Washington D.C. over which city should be the site of the nation’s “official” World War One memorial.

Kansas has been the home of the official museum since 2004 and has a well preserved cylindrical memorial. There is now an argument that the official memorial should be on the National Mall in Washington D.C., along with the memorials to other major American wars.

The full story, along with the argument from both sides can be read here, on Reuters.
