A statue in memory of those who fell at the Battle of the Somme is to be unveiled at the Chaguaramas Military History and Aerospace Museum in Trinidad & Tobago.
Trinidad’s President, Anthony Carmona, and the Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, will attend the ceremony on 10 October 2016, together with members of the armed forces and the general public.
Wreaths will be laid following consecration of the memorial by the Bishop of Trinidad and Tobago.
The museum will present a narration of events surrounding the Battle of the Somme.
More than 2,200 men from Trinidad & Tobago, a British colony at the time of the First World War, volunteered for overseas service. 210 were killed.
The Trinidad & Tobago Federation of Veterans Associations (FVA) publishes memorial cards marking the 100th anniversary of each death.
