The Last Post is a mass participation project involving communities across the UK, using music to remember the First World War. The Last Post bugle call will be played, not only on a bugle, but on a wide range of instruments.
The Last Post will run events throughout ‘Last Post fortnight’ between the 4th November to the 8th. The aim is to share local First World War stories, and play music in tribute to these local histories. The Last Post aims to create a ‘shared community experience’.
Superact’s Virginia Crompton, Executive Producer of The Last Post project said:
“The Last Post is a creative project enabling people all over the UK to explore local World War One heritage and reflect on new interpretations of this piece of music that has become indelibly linked to remembrance.”
The Last Post project is delivered by Superact, has received Heritage Lottery Funding and is part of a programme of First World War centenary events. Free resources are available to design your own commemoration, including a song book of songs from 1914, and other tools to research local history and organised a free community event.
