The Serbian Secretary of State for Defence, Zoran Djordjevic, has opened a new exhibition in Belgrade to mark the Centenary of the First World War.
Situated at the Military Museum in the capital city, the ‘Serbia in the Great War’ exhibition will display archival documents, photographs and objects from the museum’s collection relating to the First World War.
Mr. Djordjevic said that the museum and the exhibition played an important role in “proudly preserving the history of our ancestors”.
Members from the Serbian armed forces, as well as from the diplomatic and politcal spheres, were present at the opening
He described the exhibition as charting the major events of the conflict chronologically in order to illustrate the “causes, perpetrators and victims of the war”.
The Secretary of State also highlighted that the exhibition is one of sixty initiatives underway by the Serbian Ministry of Defence to commemorate the Centenary.
The exhibition will close on the 26th July 2014.
