News.com.au reports that the names and ages of all 62,000 soldiers on Australia’s First World War Roll of Honour will be recorded by schoolchildren as a “vocal tribute” during the Centenary.
Dr. Brendan Nelson, Director of the Australian War Memorial said: “This is a very practical way of connecting past sacrifices with the present and the future. Young Australians recording the Roll of Honour and age of death prompts them to reflect upon and understand that there were real men who had real lives and gave those lives in the name of freedom”.
The voice recordings will be played from July 2014 until the 11th November 2018.
