London’s Royal Air Force Museum is offering a very rare chance for the public to view original First World War documents dating from 1914.
The sessions will take place over the Centenary weekend of August 2nd and 3rd 2014. Each will be limited to 12 people.
The Museum’s expert archive team will be on hand to answer questions about the First World War or any of the letters, diaries, photographs, memoirs, log-books and manuals on display.
Session timings are 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm. Places are free of charge but must be booked in advance via the RAF Museum’s website. Details can be found here.
A free lecture will also be given on both days by Ross Mahoney, resident Aviation Historian at the Museum.
He will explore the evolution of military aviation in the decade prior to the outbreak of the First World War, the debates around its use as well as the scope and affect that air power played during the opening months of the war.
