A remembrance service in the Orkney Islands on June 5th 2016 will pay tribute to more than 700 men lost in the sinking of the British warship, HMS Hampshire, a century ago.
The event will take place at the restored Kitchener Memoral on Marwick Head, overlooking the coast where the cruiser hit a mine while taking UK War Minister Lord Kitchener to Russia for secret talks in 1916.
A commemorative wall, created by volunteers for the Centenary, will remember all 737 men lost on the Hampshire.
It will also the bear the names of another nine crewmen who died when another vessel, the Laurel Crown, sank later in June 1916 while sweeping the same waters for mines.
