In an interview with The Arts Desk magazine, Artistic Director of Northern Broadsides’ theatre, Barrie Rutter, has said that he has commissioned a play from Debbie McAndrew, a Huddersfield-born playwright and actor, to mark the Centenary in 2014. Speaking to Hilary Whitney, he says, “Ive already commissioned a play from Debbie McAndrew for 2014, the centenary of the World War One. Ive called it ‘An August Bank Holiday Lark’ which is a line from Larkins poem.”
