There are two new smartphone apps designed to guide users in finding sites of remembrance and discovering stories of the First World War.
CWGC War Graves App
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has launched its new CWGC War Graves App, freely available for smartphone and tablet users. The CWGC War Graves app allows users to search for war graves at more than 23,000 locations, in 153 countries. The app is helpful for anyone planning a trip to the cemeteries, for those curious to find war graves near them, or for those who want find more information on the 1.7 million Commonwealth servicemen and women who died in the two world wars.
The app will be available for Windows, Android and iOs.

Victoria Cross App
The Aisne tourist board has created a mobile app allowing visitors to follow the ‘heroes’ trail’ – which runs from the battlefields in Nord-Pas-de-Calais through the Somme to the Chemin des Dames, shadowing major battles involving British forces.
The app provides information on 50 British soldiers who received the most prestigious military decoration of the Army of the Commonwealth and the British Emprire: the Victoria Cross.
The app is available in French and English.
