The Edinburgh Evening News reports that research into an autograph book signed by First World War soldiers has sparked a search to identify an unknown Scottish soldier.
The book of autographs, collected by an American teenager during the conflict, contains a solitary photo of the unidentified soldier.
Researcher Alistair McEwen hopes to identify the soldier in time for the Centenary of the First World War.
