Mission Centenaire seeks WW1 Centenary projects for 2017

Four major themes have been outlined by Mission Centenaire for First World War anniversary events in France in 2017.

Projects planned for next year are being invited to apply for the French centenary organisation’s endorsement and support.

2017 Themes:

*The arrival of American troops in 1917 and their cultural impact on French life – for example jazz and new sports. Mission Centenaire will be working with the US World War I Centennial Commission on this aspect.

*The commemoration of the Battle of the Chemin des Dames

*Industry during the Great War

*Russia’s withdrawal from the war, growing industrial unrest in all the belligerent states, and the mutinies of the Chemin des Dames

The list is not exclusive, and all First World War projects are still welcome to be considered for Centenary endorsement, Mission Centenaire says.

The deadline for submissions is 21 November 2016. See Mission Centenaire for details.
