Imperial War Museum London will close for the first half of 2014 after ongoing building work revealed problems with the museum’s infrastructure.
The museum has been partially open since July 2013 and is preparing for the Centenary with its new First World War Galleries being installed.
However, unexpected problems discovered with systems including the electrics, air conditioning, and digital media cabling means that the museum will close in the new year until July 2014.
A spokesperson for the museum said: “After assessing the impact of the discoveries, and the scope of the remaining works on visitors and their experiences of the museum, a decision has been made to temporarily close IWM London from 6 January until the transformed museum opens in July 2014”.
