Bonhams Fine Art Auctioneers & Valuers is to auction an original hand-written stanza from Binyon’s First World War poem ‘For the Fallen’.
The famous poem written by the Briton is valued at £5,000 – £8,000.
It is of particular significance in British and some Commonwealth countries, where lines from the poem are often spoken at official state commemorations of the conflict.
Bonhams Fine Art Auctioneers & Valuers has highlighted the significance of the paper the stanza is written on – British Expeditionary Force headed – as the poem is in memory of members of the British Expeditionary Force who died on the Western Front.
