In an interview with France24, historian Nicolas Offenstadt highlights the importance of remembering the First World War in France and that the country is “still feeling” the legacy of the conflict 100 years on.
Mr. Offenstadt, who also sits on the national commemoration committee for the Centenary – Mission Centenaire 14-18 – argued that France must remember such a “colossal and traumatic event”, and highlighted the challenges of “getting it right” when it comes to commemorating the conflict.
