The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded an £8,300 grant which will allow the twinned towns of Newark in England and Emmendingen in Germany to recreate the ‘Christmas Truce’.
Newark Town FC and FC Emmendingen 03 will recreate the 1914 football game which saw opposing forces from the trenches on the Western Front come together in an unofficial truce.
The under-21s match will take place on the 23rd August 2014.
More details about the match will be released at a later date.
