Duke of Edinburgh to attend ceremony at Ypres as soil is gathered from Flanders Fields

The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH Prince Philip, will attend a Last Post Ceremony on November 11th 2013 as soil is gathered from Flanders Fields for a memorial garden in London to mark the Centenary of the First World War.

Prince Philip, who is Senior Colonel, Household Division and Colonel, Grenadier Guards, will attend the ceremony at Ypres, Belgium, as soil is collected from Flanders Fields. The soil will be used for a memorial garden at the Guards Museum in London.

More details of the Centenary project to distribute soil from Flanders Fields to other cities around the world developing memorial gardens – with London being the first – are to follow.
