Centenary News has appointed a new Editor. Peter Alhadeff moves up from Deputy Editor to Editor from the beginning of February 2016.
Peter is a former BBC journalist, and has worked on the site since 2012.
The current Editor Nigel Dacre, who founded the site in 2011, will become Executive Editor.
Centenary News was set up to provide independent coverage of the centenary of the First World War – and since launch has built up a large following, both on the Centenary News website and on social media.
Nigel said: “I’m really pleased that Peter has become Editor of Centenary News. He’s an experienced journalist and an excellent writer. He also has extensive contacts with centenary organisations, and has built up a comprehensive knowledge of centenary events. 2016 is going to be a really important year – with the Somme, Verdun and Jutland anniversaries coming up. So it’s great to have someone with Peter’s experience running the website during this crucial period”.
Peter said: “I am delighted to be taking Centenary News forward as Editor. My intention is to build on the progress made so far in establishing the site as an impartial source of information about centenary events and projects worldwide. I would like to thank all those who’ve contributed to the site, adding breadth and depth to our coverage, and look forward to developing new contacts as we enter the second half of the centenary period.”
