The Armistice of Villa Giusti is signed on 3rd November 1918, taking effect at 3:00pm on 4th November 1918.
Requests for peace had been made by the Austro-Hungarian Empire after the during the Battle of Vittorio Veneto, which would end in a decisive Italian victory.
The Italian Army had continued to advance into Austrian territory, as the Austro-Hungarians were hesitant to sign a formal cease fire.
The Italians, who by the 3rd November had seized a series of Austrian territories, most notably South Tyrol, threatened to break off negotiations and to continue advancing into Austro-Hungarian territory unless an armistice was signed immediately.
The Austro-Hungarians signed the armistice on the same day.
The signing of the Armistice of Villa Giusti effectively brought the conflict on the Italian Front to a close.
