The Great War Centenary Association – Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations in Ontario, Canada – has launched its new website, ‘Doing Our Bit’, to document the community’s involvement during the First World War.
The city of Brantford and Brant County border the Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation in Ontario, Canada, the only reserve in North America that has all six Iroquois nations living together.
The website serves as a public resource for original research and media, and contains a database of everyone in the region who served in World War I. The organization also partners with schools, businesses, and government to share these stories with the community.
Through the website, the Great War Centenary Association hopes to encourage members of the community to take an active interest in their own local history and to promote acts of remembrance.
