The University of Namur in Belgium and En Envor are organising an international conference entitled ‘The Battle of the Sambre and Meuse, August 1914. German, Belgian and French Perspectives on armies, memorials and representations’.
The conference, which will focus around the centenary of the Battle of Charleroi (1914) “aims to lay the groundwork for a new history of this major event in the First World War”.
A call for papers for the conference has been made.
Whist the conference will take place in French, papers can be submitted in English, Flemish, French and German.
The deadline for the submission of papers is 1st October 2013.
The conference will take place on the 24th – 26th April 2014 in Sambreville, in the Belgian province of Namur.
