Auckland Council Plans World War One Commemorations

Auckland Council will lead a series of commemorative events to mark the 2014-18 period. This will include several intiatives based in Auckland and around New Zealand. The Recreation and Heritage Forum is reported to have first made plans to create a political steering group for the project. The group would include local councillors, board members and an independent Maori representative.

Activities being considered include aWorld War One heritage trail to highlight areas of paritcular significance.
