Artist Sylvia Bollé is marking the Centenary of the First World War with her new artwork ‘My Flanders’ Field’.
A photograph of the artwork will be sent to nations which were involved in the First World War and to over fifty of Belgium’s embassies around the world.
Ms. Bollé hopes to “spread the message” about the conflict and would like to see her work exhibited or bought by an embassy.
She said that “‘My Flanders’ Field’ tells the story of soldiers marching towards their graves”, and she aims to memorialise the soldiers through her art.
“War is something we cannot forget, something we don’t know. War is not a game, and our children need to know this”.
“Poppies are an important symbol of expression for me to remember and celebrate life”.
