5,000 poppies are to be used to create an art installation in St Paul’s in London today as a reminder of the impact of war on children.
Artist Ted Harrison has created the installation using 5,000 poppies which create the images of three children that have been involved in, and affected by, war. One of the children is from World War One and the other two are from more recent conflicts.
The aim of the installation is to draw visitor’s attention to the fact that 250,000 children worldwide are under-age combatants with most having been forced or coerced into joining militias.
