An event has been held at the National Library of Ireland to help digitize and preserve memorabilia ahead of the 100th anniversary of the start of the war in July 2014.
The ‘Europeana 1914-1918’ project is Europes digital archive, library and museum, and is bringing together other national or local institutions across Europe into an alliance with Oxford University to create a more comprehensive archive.
They are also running the ‘Europeana Collections 1914-1918’ project, which will create by 2014 the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War a substantial digital collection of material from national library collections in eight countries that were involved in the conflict.
