The AMA Seeks Backing For A WWI Comemorative Coin

Date of publication: March 2012

In the USA, the American Numismatic Association is asking members to support legislative efforts to create a commemorative dollar coin honouring World War I veterans.

The members of the association feel that the veterans of the first world war have been largely ignored, and believe that as the other major wars have had coins to commemorate them, so too should the First World War.

The coin would be minted in 2017 to commemorate the centenary of America officially participating in the war. A portion of the profits from the coin would go to the ‘World War I Memorial Foundation‘.
