War memorials throughout West Lancashire will be refurbished in time for people to remember the fallen on the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
West Lancashire Council is responsible for the maintenance of seven memorials, and has approved a 17,000 refurbishment programme.
Repair work is likely to be carried out this year while cleaning will be carried out next year, in time for the anniversary.
