The Biritish Prime Minister, David Cameron, has announced the British Government’s plans to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War in 2014. These include more than £50 million worth of funds that have been earmarked for what the Prime Minister David Cameron has commented will be a “truly national commemoration”.
In a speech given at the Imperial War Museum, Cameron outlined an advisory board for the centenary which will be overseen by Culture Secretary, Maria Miller. Ms. Miller will be supported by MP Andrew Murrison.
The funding will be used for an extensive refurbishment of the Imperial War Museum, a programme of national events and an education programme.
