A memorial garden that will honour the British soldiers who died during the Great War will be built in London, using soil brought from Belgium WWI Battlefields. As one of the projects that has been commissioned for the Centenary Commemorations, it will be completed by the 2014 anniversary of the start of World War One. The garden will be installed beside the Guards’ Chapel at Wellington Barracks, near Buckingham Palace.
The Government of Flanders has pledged one pound for every pound donated by the public, both in Belgium and the UK. Fundraisers are still looking for further investment for the total 500,000 required to complete the project.
