Leading Scottish think tank labels Scotland’s First World War Centenary plans a “whitewash”

The Scotsman has reported that a leading Scottish think tank has called Scottish Government proposals to mark the Centenary of the First World War a “whitewash”.

The Jimmy Reid Foundation has expressed concerns that national plans to commemorate the conflict are dominated by “Establishment and military” figures and does not consider “why the war was fought and address the needless loss of life”.

Scotland’s Centenary plans were announced on 23rd May 2013 by First Minister Alex Salmond.
