The Australian National University and the Australian War Memorial are to jointly host a conference exploring the experience of Australian prisoners of war in twentieth century conflicts.
With support from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the conference “will gather renowned historians, veterans and family members to explore an aspect of the Australian military experience that is rarely examined – captivity”.
The conference will focus on the 34,000 Australians who were held captive in the First World War, Second World War and Korean War.
The conference will take place on the 5th-6th June 2013 at the Australian National University.
