First World War trawler in South Georgia could return to city of Hull, England, for Centenary

Merco Press reports that an historic First World War trawler on the South Atlantic island of South Georgia, originally from the English city of Hull, could be returned to city for the Centenary of the First World War.

Dr Robb Robinson said: “The [trawler] Viola sailed from Hull barely a few weeks after the war started and, a century later, it has yet to return”.

”I looked into the idea a few years ago but we couldn’t get enough momentum behind the campaign. The centenary commemorations are probably the last chance to bring it back“.
