Centenary News has filmed the Cenotaph in London, where restoration work has been carried out in preparation for the Centenary of the First World War.
The Cenotpah was erected in the aftermath of the First World War, with the permanent structure being unveiled by King George V on 11th November 1920.
Paul Stamper, Senior Adviser, Heritage Protection Department at English Heritage explained the process of cleaning and restoring the memorial and the impact the local environment and traffic have had on the memorial over the years.
The Cenotaph, “the nation’s war memorial”, is expected to play a central role in the United Kingdom’s efforts to mark the Centenary of the First World War.
