Centenary restoration in Belgium stalls due to funding concerns

L’avenir reports that efforts to rebuild a monument at the Cimetière de Foqueux have been halted due to the Wallonian government’s inability to fund the project. Although the government had originally intended to subsidise the entire cost, it has now become apparent that this will not be possible.

As this rennovation would cost in excess of 200,000 Euro, it would utilize the entire centenary budget that has been accorded to Dinant by the government. It remains to be seen whether the monument will be rebuilt.
