Is Britain’s new First World War Centenary coin “too jingoistic”?

The British newspaper The Daily Mail has highlighted the “backlash” on social media about a new coin featuring Lord Kitchener to mark the Centenary, which the Royal Mint announced last year.

“The Mint described the image as ‘powerful’ and ‘instantly recognisable’…[but] users said the Mint made a ‘shameful’ decision to glorify a military leader, rather than honouring the loss of rank-and-file soldiers”.
